Dan Honeycutt is a freelance trumpet player and teacher based in Youngstown, Ohio. He has performed as second trumpet with the Youngstown Symphony and Warren Philharmonic Orchestras and as principal trumpet of the Youngstown Playhouse Pit Orchestra. Dan earned a Master of Music degree in trumpet performance from Youngstown State University in 2016 and a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in music and political science from Allegheny College in 2014. While at Youngstown State, he was a member of the faculty brass quintet and performed as principal trumpet of the Dana School of Music's Wind Ensemble (including a Carnegie Hall performance in 2015), Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, and Chamber Winds. Dan also spent a semester as second trumpet of the school's Jazz Ensemble 1, and can be heard as lead trumpet on the three jazz-classical crossover pieces on Stephen P. Harvey's debut album, Suite Childhood. He also premiered Harvey's Sonatina for Trumpet and Electronic Accompaniment on his 2016 masters recital, which featured modern trumpet works. Dan has attended three International Trumpet Guild conferences, and will be attending the Raphael Mendez Brass Institute in July 2016. His hometown is Bangor, Maine.
